My Love Affair with the Golden Age Era of Cinema

Who else loves when Friday night rolls around just so that you can binge watch classic movies on cable or TCM?  After a hectic week of peddling kids to and from school and conference calls  mornings filled with conference calls, instead of going out, or hanging with friends, I'd rather lay in bed with my husband and watch old movies  with him. I so love movies from the Silent Film and Art Deco Periods because they speak to my soul and I find comfort in them. They relax me and make me feel so good inside. They remind me of a time when life was a lot simpler. Of course, these movies were made way before I was born, but I can appreciate the simplicity of those era's. Binge watching these movies on Friday nights, also reminds of a time when dressing up and great manners were expected. But what I appreciate the most about these wonderful movies is the Iconic fashion. I'm mesmerized with how glamorous  the women on screen dressed. I love how looking elegant was an everyday thing, with gorgeous long dresses and jaw dropping sparkly jewelry. What was common in film and life back then is considered formal to us today. How tragic! Another thing worth mentioning is how homes were furnished and decorated so beautifully. Sometimes I imagine myself in these time periods, dressed like an Iconic movie star in one of those lovely decorated homes. As you can probably tell by now, I'm so addicted and  Love Love Love the 1920's and 30's. What fabulous era's! Who else feels this way about classic films? What are your favorite classic films? What's your favorite time period in cinema?

The next blog I'll write about some of my all time favorite movies of classic cinema. I have so many, but I'll keep it short.
